About
Femi and the Foundation is a band on the rise. Channeling the spirit of The Roots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fugees, and Erykah Badu, they balance raw and rooted musicality with fearless experimentation in a fusion of funk, rock, hip-hop, and r&b -- lending additional influence from afrobeat, psychedelic rock, blues legends, and modern jazz innovators.
Based in Washington, DC, they have quickly established themselves as a headlining act and as broad-reaching collaborators, drawing large crowds at some of DC's most iconic regional venues. Their 2024 EP, Build for Us, showcases this evolution, with a full-length album "Wrong Side of the Sun" coming in August 2025.

***8/19/25: We are currently in search of a versatile multi-instrumentalist (keys/guitar, but other combinations open to apply) to join our band as our founding rhythm guitarist is moving out of the area.
Our main aim is to perform in mostly original music spaces around the DMV area and regionally. We recently released our debut album "Wrong Side of the Sun" and have played for sold out crowds at larger local venues such as Songbyrd Music House and Pearl Street Warehouse.
Interested musicians can learn more and begin the application process here.
If you have any questions, please email femiandthefoundation@gmail.com.
We are aiming to review applications over the next two weeks and contact folks near the beginning of September.
Thank you so much for your interest!***
